Our COVID-19 Policy
COVID-19 is a highly infectious disease that is spread from person to person, including through aerosol transmission of particles produced when an infected person exhales, talks, vocalizes, sneezes, or coughs. COVID-19 is less commonly transmitted when people touch a contaminated object and then touch their eyes, nose, or mouth. The virus that causes COVID-19 is highly transmissible and can be spread by people who have no symptoms and who do not know they are infected. Particles containing the virus can travel more than 6 feet, especially indoors and in dry conditions with relative humidity below 40%. The CDC estimates that over fifty percent of the spread of the virus is from individuals with no symptoms at the time of spread.
Genetic variants of SARS-CoV-2 have been emerging and circulating around the world throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The B.1.1.7 (Alpha), B.1.351 (Beta), B.1.617.2 (Delta), and P.1 (Gamma) variants circulating in the United States are classified as variants of concern which are variants for which there is evidence of an increase in transmissibility, more severe disease (e.g., increased hospitalizations or deaths), significant reduction in neutralization by antibodies generated during previous infection or vaccination, reduced effectiveness of treatments or vaccines, or diagnostic detection failures.
With that in mind we have developed protocols which will allow us to curl this season with reduced risk of exposure:
• DO NOT come to curling if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling ill in any way.
• YOU MUST BE VACCINATED or SHOW A NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST within 72 hours of the event to curl.
• WEAR A MASK when in the building and on the ice. The club will provide masks for members and participants who do not have them.
• Only ONE sweeper will be allowed during games and practices until further notice.
• Board members and volunteers will be cleaning and sanitizing all equipment after every use.
• The club will inform the membership and participants of any COVID-19 cases within the club.
